MY FAVOURITE MOVIE

"12 ANGRY MEN"-A movie which managed to capture my attention and imagination like no other, ever before. Ever since i have recommended this movie to every person i meet; quite literally.

It is a highly intense American courtroom drama involving a young Puerto-Rican boy, accused of having murdered his father. The entire movie, barring 3 minutes, has been shot in a 24ft*36ft room, where 12 jurors are working towards reaching a unanimous decision regarding the boy's hand in the homicide. 11 of the 12 jurors are convinced that the boy is guilty of murder. but the juror #8 is doubtful and believes that the evidence produced in court is circumstantial and that there is a substantial margin for discussion and debate. He refuses to agree with the other jurors and begins questioning the reliability of the two sole witnesses to the case. In a span of of about 96 minutes; which is also the running time of the movie; the juror #8, succeeds in changing the opinion of the other 11 members of the jury by sheer intelligence, reasoning, perseverance. He emerges triumphant and and ultimately the jury pronounces the boy to be innocent.

This is a movie which aptly showcases the way in in which prejudice is to be dealt with. The 11 jurors are initially adamant and refuse to reconsider their decision on the grounds of loopholes in the case pointed out by juror #8. The witty manner in which #8 gradually convinces them to see the other side of the case, despite their ego is highly commendable. "12 ANGRY MEN" is highly thought provoking. I recommend this movie to one and all.
